Subpersonalities

Tag:, , , , , , , , ,

Thor fights Giants.I take the time to research everything out there from Reichian Therapy to Chaos Magic; anything that might enhance spiritual and psychological growth. I have found Psychosynthesis to demonstrate sustaining self-transformation.

Psychosynthesis is based on the work of Roberto Assagioli, and consists of a number of very effective techniques that allow both psychological and spiritual growth. A major part of psychosynthesis techniques are working with subpersonalities.

In psychosynthesis, subpersonalities have have their own motivations. They each perceive the world in their own unique way. The psychosynthesis model of subpersonalities separates our overall personality into mini-personalities. The subpersonality model can be a very useful one if your goal is to unite your unconscious and conscious mind to focus on those things you really want.

Each subpersonality has its own mythology, its own story. Metaphor can be very useful when communicating directly with one of your subpersonalities.

By keeping a daily journal you can easily identify different moods, desires, traits, and reality perceptions. One idea is to separate these traits into subpersonalities using your favorite mythology, and gave each one a name. By objectifying a subpersonality in this way, it makes it possible to dis-identify with it and observe its behaviours.

One Response to “Subpersonalities”

    Hi Allen,
Great post, very enlightening. I have not read what you have read and researched.

But what you have written in this blog entry makes sense.

The way I see it, currently….there is one main sub-personality in a human being, it can be called the ‘torture sub personality’. Which thrives on torturing and being tortured, of course.

Unevolved people are one with this torture sub-personality. They are the torture personality itself. All their behaviour is linked to enhancing and sustaining torture.

Evolved people have evolved beyond this sub-personality, but it operates through them. Evolved people however, feel bad if this sub-personality of theirs affects others.

Spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle talks of the ‘torture sub personality’, when he talks of the ‘pain-body’. The ‘pain-body’ is a terminology unique to Eckhart Tolle.

The pain body consists of ‘living pain from the past’. Pain from the past collects in the human who lives in a state of non-acceptance of the past, non forgiveness. It creates pain in the NOW for this person and people around him.

Tolle says that this ‘pain from the past’ can be considered to be alive, because its much like a psychic parasite, and has rudimentary intelligence, much like a simple but cunning animal, whose only aim is to generate pain in its host and people around the host—and then feed on this pain. By feeding on the pain it generates, the pain body strengthens, re-inforces itself.

You write about observing sub-personalities. This is exactly what Tolle also says. By mere observation of the pain-body and its actions, attacks, one can reduce its effect.

Like he says…..’unconsciousness cannot bear the light of your presence, and starts burning up, losing its potency’.

In fact, I think I want to make a blog entry out of this comment of mine, and will want to add a link to this post of yours to it.

As regards “Pain from the past”—–I have written many blog entries mentioning it, here’s one of my fav. ones…named ‘The Mental Lens’.

It might interest you…..here is the link:
