Generic Noun Phrases

Tag:, , , , , , ,

Generic Noun Phrases are noun arguments that stand for a whole class. For example, have you ever seen those commercials that say, “Nine out of ten doctors agree…” or “Nine out of ten dentists recommend…?” They are using the generic noun phrases “doctors” and “dentists” to qualify their statements.

This sounds wonderful to most people because they translate nine out of ten into 90%. We could be dealing with any 10 doctors or dentists. And who knows,  the actual research may have included 100 doctors, and they chose to pick nine out of ten that favored their product.

The industry’s best marketers have learned to use generic noun phrases to successfully sell more product.

Well-known and established hypnotists across the world have said that CovertMetaphor.com is the best site to learn conversational hypnosis and persuasion skills.
